The Environmental Photography Invitational (EPI) is a premier North American photography event for the advancement of photography as a unique medium capable of bringing awareness and preservation to our environment through art. The annual juried photo competition will, along with awarding cash and merchandise to selected photographers, include an online exhibit, a six week gallery show, and publication in PhotoMedia magazine. The selected prints will celebrate the world’s diversity and the creativity and originality of North American photographers. Photographer and creator of EPI, Art Wolfe, will host the print exhibit in his state-of-the-art gallery space in Seattle. EPI is an annual community event involving foundations, sponsors, politicians, and photographers to promote environmental awareness.
Invitational Rules

The juried exhibit is open to all photographers residing in North America, including Alaska & Hawaii.
All photographic processes and formats are eligible.
Images made in any location world-wide are eligible.
Images must be in keeping with EPI’s mission.
Digital Manipulation Guidelines: Heavily manipulated images will not be accepted. Color and contrast adjustments, sharpening, burning and dodging, etc will be accepted within reason so long as it does not alter the subject content of the original image.
2007 Categories Each image must belong in one of the following categories (images will be reassigned to a different category if deemed appropriate):

Landscape – Depicting the beauty and diversity found throughout both the protected and unprotected natural landscapes of the world.
Wildlife – Depicting the diversity of animal species, their behavior and habitat, including endangered species.
Flora - Depicting the beauty and diversity of plants throughout the world, including endangered species and ecosystems.
Underwater - Depicting the beauty and diversity of marine or freshwater animals or plants.
Indigenous Cultures - Depicting the value of indigenous and tribal people in their natural environment.
Man in the Environment - Depicting the diversity of man’s existence and interaction within the natural environment.
Environment at Risk – Depicting the diversity of environmental issues and humanity’s positive and negative impacts throughout the world.
Puget Sound at Risk – Depicting the environmental issues and humanity’s impact on Puget Sound.
Student - Images from any participant either enrolled full-time in school or under the age of 21 as of February 1st, 2007 that pertain to any of the above categories.
How to Enter
All entries will be received online via EPI’s website, www.EPInvitational.com, in digital format. Images will be uploaded there along with an entry form to be completed online. No entries will be accepted by mail.

Files will be in JPEG format at maximum quality, with the longest dimension no larger than 1024 pixels, at a resolution of 72 dpi, in RGB mode. Files will be named lastname_firstname_title_sequence#.jpg with no spaces in filename. No border, embedded marks or logos.

The entrance fee will be $35 for up to 3 entries and $15 for each individual entry thereafter up to a maximum of 10 images. Fees for entrants in the Student category will be $25 for up to 3 entries and $10 for each individual entry thereafter also up to a maximum of 10 images.
